Elements of an automata theory over partial orders
نویسنده
چکیده
A model of nondeterministic nite automaton over ((nite) partial orders is introduced. It captures existential monadic second-order logic in expressive power and generalizes classical word automata and tree automata. Special forms, such as deterministic automata, are discussed, and logical and algorithmic properties are analyzed, like closure under complement and decid-ability of the nonemptiness problem. These questions are studied in the context of diierent classes of partial orders, such as trees, Mazurkiewicz traces, or rectangular grids.

Automata Theory on Trees and Partial Orders
The paper reviews recent results which aim at generalizing nite automata theory from words and trees to labelled partial orders (presented as labelled directed acyclic graphs), with an emphasis on logical aspects. As an important type of labelled partial order we consider pictures (two-dimensional words). Graph acceptors and their specialization for pictures, \tiling systems", are presented, an...
متن کاملDomains on Classical States Final Project for COMP-627
In this paper, we will investigate two partial orders on classical states∆n that induce a domain theoretic structure. In particular, we will look at the Bayesian order presented by Coecke and Martin (2002) and the implicative order presented by Martin (2004). For both of the domains that arise from these orderings on the classical states, Shannon entropy is a measurement in the domain theoretic...
متن کاملL-FLAT: Logtalk Toolkit for Formal Languages and Automata Theory
We describe L-FLAT, a Logtalk Toolkit for teaching Formal Languages and Automata Theory. L-FLAT supports the definition of alphabets, the definition of orders over alphabet symbols, the partial definition of languages using unit tests, and the definition of mechanisms, which implement language generators or language recognizers. Supported mechanisms include predicates, regular expressions, fini...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Partial Cavitation over Axisymmetric Bodies: VOF Method vs. Potential Flow Theory
A computational study of partial cavitation over axisymmetric bodies is presented using two numerical methods. The first method is based on the VOF technique where transient 2D Navier-Stokes equations are solved along with an equation to track the cavity interface. Next, the steady boundary element method (BEM) based on potential flow theory is presented. The results of the two methods for a di...
متن کاملDeciding LTL over Mazurkiewicz Traces
Linear time temporal logic (LTL) has become a well established tool for specifying the dynamic behaviour of reactive systems with an interleaving semantics, and the automata-theoretic approach has proven to be a very useful mechanism for performing automatic verification in this setting. Especially alternating automata turned out to be a powerful tool in constructing efficient yet simple to und...
